We walk at night and sleep during the day
Night 1
The trip starts at 19:00 at Egilsstaðir where the group will be driven to the starting point of the hiking trail in Stórurð. Stórurð is one of the most magnificent natural creations in Iceland surrounded by Dyrfjöll mountains. The scree is very unique, flat meadows, rugged boulders, some tens meters high, beautiful ponds, and special vegetation. Walking in Stórurð is a unique experience. On Saturday morning, at the end of the walk, the group is picked up and driven to Borgarfjörður Eystri where breakfast awaits and then staying overnight at Blábjörg in made-up beds with shared bathroom. Day 1 When people have slept through most of the travel fatigue, it is ideal to go to Musteri SPA and enjoy the beauty of Borgarfjörður Eystri. You can even rent a bike and cycle out to Hafnarhólmann and see the puffin colony or check out KHB Brewery, where craft beer, Landi, and gin are brewed, walk to Álfaborg, see the church or just enjoy life. Then we will drive to Eskifjörður in the afternoon and check into Hotel Eskifjörður. Elevation: 450m Km: 14 Trip difficulty level: 3/5 Night 2 We drive from Eskifjörður to Karlsskáli at 19:00, where we start the walk. We walk from Karlsskáli through landslides of the same name and up to Valahjalli where you can find the wreckage of a German military plane that went down in Sauðatindur in May 1940. There are also magnificent traces of a large rockfall from the peak in 2014. We will go to a secret pond and enjoy nature and the view over to the island Skrúður and Reyðarfjörður. Day 2 We sleep the travel fatigue out of us at Hotel Eskifjörður. There is a great swimming pool in the town and it is good to let the travel fatigue pass and enjoy the mountains along the way or have a light walk around the town, check out the Maritime Museum or Randulfssjóhús and enjoy the history and restaurants there. We drive to Egilsstaðir in the afternoon before we head to the summit, Snæfell. Elevation: 410 m. Km: 12 Trip difficulty level: 3/5 Night 3 We depart from Egilsstaðir at 19:00 and we drive via Fljótsdalur andn Fljótsdalsheiði past Snæfellsskáli hut to the beginning of the hiking trail to the king of Icelandic mountains, the highest mountain outside the glaciers in Iceland, 1,833m above sea level, called Snæfell. The main hiking trail starts a short distance from Snæfellsskáli and the trail is marked up under the glacier cap. The route is suitable for most mountaineers and alternates steep and comfortable sections. The view from the peak of Snæfell is hard to top. Day 3 On the way back we stop at Laugarfell highland hostel, where we have breakfast and immerse ourselves in wonderful natural pools with a view of our summit. We expect to end this wonderful night trip in Egilsstaðir at 11:00 in the morning. Elevation: 1,030 m. Km: 14 Trip difficulty level: 3/5 Meeting Point:
