Blágil Canyon

The Icelandic summer night is without a doubt one of the most amazing things to experience in life. The sound is different and it smells like magic.

​In this atmosphere we will hike around this wonderful area, visiting the colourful gem, Blágil canyon. It is a truly hidden pearl in *AUSTURLAND, in an ancient main volcano, truly majestic and beautiful.

The southern region of Breiðdalur forms a basin where the excruciating heat has transformed the rock to such an extent that the basalt and the andestite have turned pale-green, making it problematic to tell them apart from the rhyolite.

Our meeting point is in Breiðdalur valley where we will start the hike, at 20:00.

• Thermos with cocoa, tea or coffee

• Sunscreen and lip balm
• Band-aid, bandage and painkiller
• Toilet paper, disinfectant wipes / gels and small plastic bags for used paper
• Hat, mittens and buff around the neck​
