Hi there! If you don't find your desired date in the calendar below, check out the same tour but with departure from Seyðisfjörður here. There you can also choose departure from Hús handanna, Egilsstaðir Airport and Vök Baths. Due to booking system complications we cannot show this on the same page - sorry for the inconvenience!
Making our way through the remote countryside of East Iceland we'll travel along the valley of Jökuldalur and visit the Rjúkandi waterfall where we'll make a short stop and take an easy and accessible walk up to the waterfall. From there we will make our way to Stuðlagil Canyon.
Nestled deep within Jökuldalur Valley, Stuðlagil Canyon is truly a remarkable destination. The canyon is one of the largest and most beautiful basalt rock formations in Iceland and has extremely photogenic scenery. On the east side of Jökulsá River we go on an easy half an hour walk to the gorge of the canyon. Total time at Stuðlagil Canyon is about 2-3 hours which gives us plenty of time to explore and enjoy the scenery along with snacks and drinks. Most of the summer the water in the river is clear with turquoise colour but in the beginning of August the river changes to grey-ish glacial water.
After long day of exploring we will continue our travel to the geothermal oasis of Vök Baths. The baths offer Iceland's first floating pools in Urriðavatn Lake, a large pool with it's own bar, steam bath, cold mist tunnel, quality guest facilities, and restaurant Vök Bistro with a view of the lake and the pools with a menu based on sustainability and local ingredients.
This day-long adventure promises to be a harmonious blend of exploration, awe, and relaxation - a truly immersive experience that will linger in your memories for years to come.
