The Tour
Departure from Egilsstaðir, where we will drive to Rjúkandi waterfall in Jökuldalur where our first stop will be. From there, the road leads to Stuðlagil canyon, which is one of the most beautiful places in Iceland. We will stop there for about 2-3 hours, but the walk each way takes about thirty minutes.
After enjoying the magnificent beauty of Stuðlagil that leaves no one untouched, we continue into the highlands to Hafrahvammagljúfur canyon where we also stop and see the grandeur, 200 m. deep gorge.
Then we head to Hálslón reservoir and Kárahnjúkar dam and look at the largest power plant in Iceland and one of the largest in Europe.
We drive along Mt. Snæfell and before we head back to Egilsstaðir we stop for a short hike to Kirkjufoss glacial river waterfall, a one hour in total.
After a nice day enjoying nature and beeing outside we drive back to Egilsstaðir, trough one of the largest forest in Iceland, Hallormsstaðarskógur.
A perfect way to end the day is to soak into Vök baths where the warm water flowing from the ground at Urriðavatn lake is so pure that it is the only geothermal water in Iceland certified as drinkable.
