The TourWe depart from Eskifjörður at 10:00. We drive to the countryside and visit one of Iceland's most significant places, in an international perspective, and one of the most remarkable meeting places on earth, Helgustaðanáma.
Spar crystals were found there, which transformed the world into various scientific and technological developments in the period 1780-1872. We drive over Víkurheiði which lies at about 400m above sea level and to Vöðlavík. Permanent residence was in the bay until 1968, but in recent years it has become a hangout for those who are looking for peace and quiet. The bay is sparse and famous for its natural beauty. A road was built to Vöðlavík in 1940 and it still serves its role as the main transport route to get there. When driving down to Vöðlavík, a small stream flows alongside the road and forms beautiful waterfalls. We drive out on the black sand and enjoy the energy from the ocean. When we have had a coffee, we head back to Eskifjörður. Locations: Vöðlavík Duration: 5 hours Difficulty level: Easy Meeting Point: Eskifjörður Hotel at 10am - See map What to bring:
